Toronto Gear Works supplies external spur gears that can be manufactured in cast iron, carbon steel, stainless steel, or brass. Our stock spur gears have hubs, pressure angles of either 14.5 or 20 degrees, and a variety of bore options. In addition, we offer a large variety of diametral pitches. We make sure to keep quality and precision as the key components in our manufacturing process.
What are spur gears you might ask? Spur gears are straight cut gears that mechanically transmit motion and power between parallel shafts, which rotate in opposite directions. Spur gears have the gear hobbing on the rim of the gear, being parallel to the bore and rotating axis of the gear. They are cost-effective, precision gears that are some of the most commonly used in the industry.
Spur gears are used in many different power transmission applications, such as winches, construction equipment, outboard motors, machine tools, lawn and garden equipment, marine hoists, multi-spindle drives, snow throwers, turbine drives, pumps, centrifuges, medical devices, and jacks, among others. They are also used for many machines with common, everyday use, including egg beaters, electric screwdrivers, mechanical lamps and lighting, oscillating sprinklers, windup alarm clocks, clothes washers and dryers, conveyors, and blenders.
At Toronto Gear Works, we offer custom gear manufacturing in various materials: plastic, brass, steel, and aluminum. We are able to produce gears with pin hubs, clamp hubs, or completely hubless gears. We manufacture spur gears, metric gears, bevel gears, helical gears, worm gears, gear clusters, gear blanks, anti-backlash gears, gear stock, ratchets, pawls, and pinion shafts.
Our high-quality, trusted gears aim to supply distributors, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), and the power transmission and precision mechanical industries.
We provide customizations and off-the-shelf availability to meet any performance needs you may have and produce our gears from the most preferred materials including:
Our gears are available in metric and U.S. (inch) sizes, can be customized to the preferred number of teeth, and are offered in a 14.5 degree pressure angle and 20 degree pressure angle. We have the following diametrical inch pitches available:
